Scanpik ("the App," "we," "us") is an iOS app that lets you scan product barcodes, view and write reviews, and contribute product information. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your relationship with Scanpik. By downloading, installing, signing in, or otherwise using the App, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
The App is not intended for children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use the App. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, please obtain your legal guardian's consent before using the App.
To use the App's main features, you must sign in with "Sign in with Apple" to create an account. Each user may hold only one account. You are responsible for all activity under your Apple ID and your Scanpik account, including sign-in, content you post, and interactions with other users. You may delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the App.
Content you create ("User Content") includes, without limitation, reviews, ratings, taste profiles, product submissions and edits, product photos, reports, likes, and AI conversation messages.
You retain all rights to your User Content. By submitting User Content, you represent and warrant that:
So that we can operate the App, display your contributions to other users, and build and maintain product and review data, for the User Content you submit or have submitted—in any form, including without limitation text, images, video, audio, and any content type the App may support in the future, and including content you submitted before the effective date of these Terms—you grant Scanpik a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license, for the purpose of operating, maintaining, and improving the App, to reproduce, publicly transmit, publicly display, publicly broadcast, publicly perform, distribute, and compile your content, and to adapt it as necessary for technical formatting, content moderation, and anonymization. For content you submitted before the effective date, your continued use of the App after that date constitutes your acceptance of this license. This license lasts for as long as your content remains on Scanpik; retention and deletion of your content are governed by our Privacy Policy.
You retain ownership of your content and all rights not expressly granted to us. To the extent we anonymize, reformat, moderate, and display your content within the scope of this license, you agree not to assert moral rights against Scanpik, its sublicensees, or others acting on its behalf within the scope of this license; however, we will not use your content in a way that distorts or misrepresents its original meaning. Retention of product photos after account deletion is addressed in Section 4 of the Privacy Policy.
When using the App, you may not:
Regarding "security testing" above, we welcome good-faith security research: if you test in good faith, do not intentionally access, modify, or exfiltrate other users' data, do not disrupt or degrade the service, promptly and privately report your findings to us (scanpik.app@gmail.com), and do not publicly disclose for 90 days after your report (extendable only by mutual agreement), we will not treat that activity as a violation of these Terms and will not pursue legal action against you for it. If you inadvertently encounter other users' data during testing, you must stop immediately, report it, and not retain, use, or distribute that data.
We may, but are not obligated to, review, hide, modify, or remove any User Content. Our doing so does not constitute an endorsement of the content's accuracy, legality, or quality.
If you violate these Terms, we may, without prior notice:

The Scanpik name, trademarks, logo, App interface, source code, design, and related materials are owned by us and protected under copyright, trademark, and related laws. These Terms do not grant you any license to the foregoing except as expressly agreed in writing.
The product names, marks appearing in product images, brand names, and brand logos displayed in the App belong to their respective owners. We display this information only to help users identify products, and we do not claim any trademark or brand rights, nor do we represent any partnership, sponsorship, or affiliation with such brands.
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify Scanpik against any losses, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) Scanpik incurs as a result of any third-party claim, suit, or proceeding arising from your breach of these Terms, your violation of law, or User Content that infringes the rights of any third party.
We may modify, add, suspend, or terminate all or part of the App's features at any time without individual prior notice. We are not liable for any losses resulting from such changes or termination.
We may revise these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will update the effective date and notify users through the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of them.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Taiwan (Republic of China). For any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of the App, the parties agree that the district court of Scanpik's principal place of business in Taiwan shall have exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance.
